How does Hemingway incorporate rapid fire dialogue into his works, specifically The Old Man and The Sea. Does anyone see parallels to Albert Camus' The Stranger.

I am not so sure about Camus, but I know for a fact that Hemingway's use of sparse, realistic dialogue "legitimized" it as part of literature, and made a complete break with how dialogue was previously portrayed.

Hemingway's dialogue style was probably the biggest single influence on the characteristic rat-a-tat-tat dialogue of the detective films of the 1930s and film noir in the post-WWII years.
