Denubridia: oddly, I don't see any question in your question.

As for inspiration for a suitable answer, if the question is "do those wounded in war have a code?" it is still too general to answer from this one book.

If the question is "did Jake Barnes have a code, and was it connected to his being wounded in the war?" then I'd suggest, for inspiration, you re-read the book, particularly the passages where he refers to his wounding, and his recovery, and others like Brett's husband and Brett herself.

Best,
hijo

*IF* you can change this to war veterens and their code rather than war cripples, then you have something. War veterens, especially of the Great War (and Viet Nam) feel that only people who were also in the war will understand their feeleings, so they tend to only discuss their expiriences with other vets. But then the question becomes why would a veteren, like Robert Graves, write books about their expiriences? Hemingway addresses this in several places...For Whom the Bell Tolls and Big Two-Hearted Rive... by saying that once he, the main character, could write about the war, it would be purged from him.
