The July edition of the Smithsonian magazine has a nice article about the Fiesta of San Fermin in Pamplona.  It's titled Pamplona No Bull and written by Erla Zwingle.

The article is mostly facts and figures about the activities of today's Fiesta: the influx of tourists, the partying and, of course, the running of the bulls.

Ernest is given credit for putting Pamplona and its Fiesta on the map by writing about it in The Sun also Rises.  There's a nice photo of Ernest sitting on the ground next to a bull, petting him.

I think we should all go next year.

Robbie: I agree. Everyone with an interest in Hemingway and Spain should go at least once.

I'm seriously contemplating a trip in about 3 years, when I turn 50. Just to drink, watch, and relive my youth...

Allbest,
hijo

  Gentlemen,

It was the last time that I saw Hem's uniform that I decided I'd run with the bulls despite the fact that my wife forbid me.  I guess she saw how serious I was - plus the fact that she wants to see Spain.  We're going.  Not exactly sure when but someday and def before I hit 40.

I've been away from the board for some time.  I'll have to hunt that article down.
