Anyone know what rifles and calibers EH used in Africa? Is there mention of it in any of his books or biographies?

Thanks.

Several of Hemingway's books have mention of the different rifles. Best bet is probably a copy of Hemingway On Hunting edited by Sean Hemingway, The Lyon Press, copyright 2001, isbn 1-58574-371-2

The rifle most mentioned is the Springfield 1903 (customized I beleive by Abercrombie & Fitch) in standard .30-06 caliber.  It is mentioned in several places, True at First Light, as well as some articles that he wrote for various publications.  He also mentions the 6.5mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer (?sp) in several places (Short Happy Life of Francis Maccomber, True at First Light).

Those would be the most common, but also he used double rifles, of which the only reference I can remember is to a .577 in True at First Light.
